  15. <p>     DIED. JOSEPH PULITZER JR., 80, editor and publisher; in St.
  16. Louis, Missouri. A grandson of the original Joseph Pulitzer,
  17. Joe Jr. built on his forebear's achievements. He inherited a
  18. company that consisted of one newspaper, a television station
  19. and a radio station in St. Louis, and in time acquired papers
  20. in three states, six more TV stations and another radio station.
  21. In addition, Joe Jr. (he was christened Joseph III but adopted
  22. the "junior" after his grandfather's death) assembled one of
  23. the world's finest private art collections. It included works
  24. by Picasso, Monet and Van Gogh, many of which he donated to
  25. the St. Louis Art Museum.
